Chevy Chase Bank Headquarters, Bethesda, MD A Montgomery County Complex Structures Project This project consisted of the construction of a twin tower steel frame 15-story above ground office building and 5-story concrete frame below ground parking garage. CTI implemented a complete quality control program covering all structural components of this 750,000 square foot structure.
CTI has been contracted to perform geotechnical and quality control services for an additional 49 Chevy Chase Branch locations.
Client: Chevy Chase Federal Savings Bank - Chevy Chase, MD

Dept. of Transportation Headquarters, Washington, D.C. CTI is currently providing full inspection services along with an on-site laboratory for this new headquarters building in Washington, D.C. This project is a considerable undertaking with two million square feet of concrete frame office and garage space. It is serviced by eight tower cranes and three on-site concrete batch plants, responsible for producing and placing over 154,000 cubic yards of concrete. The foundation consists of a single mat 5 ˝ feet thick, totaling more than 50,000 cubic yards. CTI has provided up to six site personnel simultaneously and has serviced the project on weekends and overnight to meet the demands of the project’s aggressive schedule.
CTI is also contracted to provide all D.C. required code inspections for base building and tenant fit-out for MEP, fire protection, construction, and elevators.
Client: The JBG Companies - Chevy Chase, MD

Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Leesburg, VA CTI has been contracted to provide a complete testing and inspection program for this Rafael Vinoly designed project in Leesburg, VA. The project consists of a 750,000 square foot, four-story cast-in-place concrete structure with post-tensioned and structural steel elements. The unique structure is built with significant underground sections designed to blend in with the site topography. The side of the building contains a 40 ft. high, single-lift poured concrete walls. Earth retention systems include sheeting and shoring, soil nailing and cutback slopes. Site works include extensive utilities, metroplex retaining walls and an extensive network of roads constructed in accordance with VDOT standards. CTI has provided an on-site laboratory to provide efficient testing of soils and the 66,000 cubic yards of concrete batched on-site.
Client: The Mark Winkler Company - Ashburn, VA

National Association of Securities Dealers, Gaithersburg, MD CTI provided all quality control and geotechnical consulting services during the construction of the NASD Office Building and Parking Garage in Gaithersburg, MD. The structure is a five-story concrete frame post-tensioned office building with an attached cast-in-place parking garage with pre-cast skin. All work was conducted in accordance with Montgomery County Complex Structures requirements.
Client: Boston Properties, Inc. - Washington, D.C.

Westpark Corporate Center Towers, I & II, McLean, VA A Fairfax County Critical Structures Project The Westpark Corporate Center Towers project consisted of the construction of two fourteen-story post-tensioned concrete buildings (10-stories of above-ground office space and 4 stories of below-ground parking). CTI inspected all aspects of the project including each of the following: Earth Retention System (Soldier Piles), Post-Tensioning, Soil Fill and Backfill, Concrete, Foundation Bearing, Structural Steel, Reinforcing Steel and Waterproofing. CTI utilized an on-site laboratory to provide all concrete cylinder testing for this facility.
Client: The Mark Winkler Company - Alexandria, VA

Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Main Span & VA Approach, Alexandria, VA As the largest bridge project currently under construction on the East Coast, the span will carry six northbound and six southbound lanes of traffic on the main North/South Interstate artery of the Eastern seaboard. CTI is providing onsite laboratory testing and quality control services. The work has involved on-land and barge based testing operations performed around the clock to meet the schedule demands of the project. CTI is also providing specialty tests for shrinkage modules of elasticity and creep on lightweight bridge deck concrete.
Clients: American Bridge/Kramer - Alexandria, VA Virginia Approach Constructors - Alexandria, VA

Global Vision Integration Center, Suffolk, VA CTI was contracted to provide a comprehensive quality control program for the project. This 55,000+ square foot facility was designed to services both private contractors and federal agencies in development and presentation of classified projects for National Defense.
Though the specific details of construction are confidential, CTI provided a full range of services including Geotechnical Consulting, Materials Testing and Special Inspection services. This rigorous program required up to six inspectors on-site simultaneously.
Client: Lockheed Martin Corporation - Philadelphia, PA

Virginia Commonwealth University - Massey Cancer Center, Richmond, VA VCU’s new cancer center is designed for research and development of cutting edge cancer treatments. CTI was contracted to provide testing and inspection services for this 80,000 square foot structure including geotechnical consulting and inspections for the caisson foundation system, and special inspections for all structural elements including soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, EIFS, and roofing.
Client: Virginia Commonwealth University - Richmond, VA

Wytheville Community Center, Wytheville, VA Construction is now underway for this much anticipated new community center in Wythe County, VA. The 14 million dollar project includes four basketball courts, four swimming pools, a gymnastics center, a daycare center and related facilities. CTI is providing a complete Special Inspections Program for the owner. Included in CTI’s scope of work is testing and inspection of footings, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, compaction/density testing of fill and backfill, asphalt, water and sewer lines, and roofing.
Client: Town of Wytheville, VA - Wytheville, VA

University of Virginia - John Paul Jones Arena, Charlottesville, VAScheduled for completion in June of 2006, the University of Virginia’s 129 million dollar project features student and premium seating, practice courts, weight training facilities, offices, lounges, and locker rooms. CTI is providing a complete quality control program for all structural elements including testing and special inspections for foundations, slab on grade and elevated slabs, masonry, reinforcing and structural steel. www.vmdo.com/special/arena/default.asp
Client: University of Virginia / Barton Mallow - Charlottesville, VA

Great Eastern Resorts – Massanutten Water Park, Massanutten, VA This 30 million dollar project adjoins Massanutten Resort and features a 42,000 square foot indoor and 88,000 square foot outdoor recreation areas. The pyramid shaped indoor park will operate year round and features a restaurant, 3,500 square foot video arcade, a lounge, and many other family oriented amenities. Outdoor park highlights include a 45 foot tall four lane racing waterslide and a wave pool that can generate one to six foot waves.
